Colorado River District Eagle Project Guidelines
- Download the Eagle Project workbook: http://www.nesa.org/trail/18-927.rtf%20
- Get with Troop Eagle Advisor and/or Scoutmaster for assistance in picking a project.
- Pick a project that benefits the community, church or other non-profit organization. Cannot be for the benefit of scouting, self or any commercial enterprise.
- Prepare a written description or proposal using the Eagle Project Workbook.
- Fill out the Eagle Project Workbook up to the point of approving signatures. (Keep this page separate so that you will not have to get additional signatures if changes to the workbook are made.)
- Get approval signatures from Representative the project is to benefit, the Troop Eagle Advisor/Scoutmaster and the Troop Committee Chairman.
- Eagle Project Workbook should include the following at a minimum:
- Beneficiary’s name and address
- Specific, identifiable, and measurable goal(s) of the Project
- Materials and supplies required to complete the Project
- Source(s) of funding for the materials and supplies
- How will the funding by obtained

or 979-250-1445 for project review and/or approval.
- This step may at the discretion of the Advancement Chairman be either in person or in the form of e-mail correspondence.
- Missing items will be brought to the Scouts attention.
- Recommendations may be made to be included in the project.
- Approval to begin work may be gained. (can be verbal, written in e-mail or workbook signed at this point.)
- Only after getting the permission of the District Advancement Chairman, can the scout begin any real work on the project.
- Start project and supervise the work to its completion.
- While working on his Project, it is strongly recommended that the Scout maintain a detailed, daily log. The log would include information as to who worked on the project (by name, date, and number of hours), what work was accomplished, what materials and funds were collected and expended. This log will assist the Scout in writing the final Project report, but the log itself will not normally be included in the Project report.
- Upon completion of the Project, the Scout must write a detailed report, clearly stating in the report how he demonstrated leadership during the planning and execution of the project. The report should include at least the following items:
- Signatures of completion in the Eagle Scout Leadership Project Workbook
- List of workers, by name, and a schedule of dates and times that each person worked. Time should be broken down by each volunteer, as required in the workbook. This listing must include the Scout himself, as well as his family to the extent they helped the Scout.
- Submit a detailed list of all funding as well as costs associated with the project. This breakdown should include a listing of all funding received weather it was a result of donations or weather funds had to be raised through special fundraisers as well as the source of such funding. You must list the cost of all materials, any items or tools rented to complete the project, any services that had to be paid for and a total cost of all labor that was volunteered on the project. This can be obtained by checking the going rate for local labor in the area. ex: $10.00 per hour.
- Since no Project ever is completed without some problems, the report should explain the problems and issues encountered and how they were resolved
- All changes made from the initial proposal (it is important to point out that any changes that are significant must be reported to the Troop Eagle Scout Advisor and the Colorado River District Advancement Chairman when they are encountered, along with a recommended course of action)
- A detailed explanation of how the Scout directed others to accomplish the successful completion of the project
- “After” photographs or other, similar, documentation (as applicable)
- No signature date may be later than the Scout’s 18th birthday
- Once project is completed, contact the Colorado River District Advancement Chairman for final review.
- Prepare at least 4 original copies of the Workbook with original signatures.
- There will need to be a copy of the project available to each member of the Eagle Board of Review for examination.
- These do not all need to be original copies, but should include copies of any and all photos included in the original workbooks.
